WOMEN HYGIENE DRIVE UNDER CSR INITIATIVE
PurFem: Leading the Change in Menstrual Hygiene
More than 300 million women and girls in India lack access to safe menstrual hygiene products, endangering their health, curtailing their education, and risking their livelihoods. According to the Geneva-based Water Supply & Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), at least 23 percent of girls in India drop out of school when they start menstruating, with the rest missing an average of five days per month during their menstrual periods between the ages of 12 and 18 years.
PurFem’s Women Hygiene Drive is our answer to this pressing issue. The initiative emerged from findings on various rural and societal needs.
Initial Efforts:
Awareness Campaigns: Conducted in schools, colleges, hostels, and communities to educate about menstrual hygiene and promote hygienic practices during menstrual periods.
Sanitary Pad Distribution: Distributing sanitary pads and providing guidance on their usage and proper disposal.
Next Steps:
Automated Vending Machines: Making sanitary napkins available through Automated Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines.
Incinerators: Providing incinerators for the disposal of used sanitary pads.
Empowering Local Women:
Training: Local women and women groups will be trained and supported to operate and maintain these vending machines.
Livelihood Opportunities: This initiative offers livelihood opportunities for women while ensuring the availability of hygienic products to the community.
Expected Outcomes:
Improved Health and Hygiene: Ensuring easy access to hygiene products at places frequently visited by women and girls, such as schools, colleges, and hostels.
Increased Attendance: Installation of Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines in girls’ washrooms in educational institutions and community health centres to provide anytime, easy access to napkins and manage emergencies, proven to increase attendance rates.
Enhanced Cleanliness: Promoting “Swachhta” at busy joints with significant footfall of women and girls, including educational campuses, hospitals, resorts, and tourist places.
Accessible Hygienic Washrooms: Helping women and girls access hygienic washrooms at schools and public areas, opened at places with significant footfall.
Sponsorship and Impact: Implementing this project through PurFem’s products will not only fulfil social objectives but also significantly improve the quality of life for girls and women, enhancing overall hygiene facilities for current and future generations.
Together, we can make a lasting impact on the health and education of women and girls, enabling them to lead healthier, more empowered lives.
